Today i received the Synology DS418play NAS Disk Station to set up for a small business. I unboxed the NAS and immediately installed the four 6GB WD RED hard drives. This was made very easy because the whole thing is tool-less. I chose this NAS because it's on the lower end of the price point for a Synology NAS that supports active backup for business. I got it fired up and it acquired an ip from DHCP whitch i found in my Unifi dashboard, I connected and it was a breeze to setup. I set up users, group and shares and set up a few group policies. Then moved on to installing active backup for business, just a one click process. I the configured a backup schedule for the user group which should be sufficient to recover from any endpoint failure. The bare metal restore option is amazing. This NAS will also be used for file sharing as well.
